The Niger Delta refers to nine states found in the Southern part of Nigeria which are Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Abia, Edo, Cross River, Akwa-Ibom, Imo, and Ondo states. The Niger Delta states are known for the oil they produce. The inhabitants of the lands, however, do not benefit from the oil proceeds and are left to face the consequences of the environmental degradation brought about by poor oil extraction techniques.
CORA plans to address the problems in Niger delta which are unemployment, child poverty, teenage pregnancy, lack of access to education, and a lack of lucrative skills by designing region specific sustainable projects that are detailed in the project plan. More details on the challenges facing the people in the Niger Delta can be found on the About CORA page.
